Why does it blow it back in front of you again and not off to one side?

We do that to move the snow past the end of the driveway rather than creating a huge pile beside it.

Because if thrown to the side, it would be over too soon

To the OP. Nice shot.

I think he's blowing it forward because there is a vehicle just to his right.
Here's a pic from last year when he was snowblowing

Depends on the wind direction and the direction the snow blower operator is going. The walkways and driveways I clear on my property are a number of directions, particularly the walkways .

I can maneuver my snowblower's exit shaft and also adjust height and trajectory of the snow...but still there will be sometimes wind blowback ...to contend with.

Out where I live...we seem to get snow fall, snow storms, or heavy blowing snow every second to third day...during our 5 1/2 months of snow. The snow comes in early November....continues to accumulate ....no real melt...till early April, sometimes very late March.

Either way . . . brrrrr! I live about 70 miles from the OP, and our weather has been unusually harsh for the lowland hills where I am. Even for someone who enjoys getting out in the woods in the winter - like me - it is pretty rough out there. Some folks have had a lot of problems with accidents and ruptured pipes. We're expecting night-time temps of 0F or lower at least for another week. May not be unusual for you real northerners, but for an area where the average daytime temp is about 35F this time of year - yikes.

Yeah. the clothes we have even the winter ones are a lot lighter than ones from up north. I am originally from Indiana. The winter shirts there are twice as thick as here in Tennessee.

Well... where we live, it was -18 with a windchill of -38 the other day. We get about 14 feet of snow per year, although are a bit down this year because all the high winds keep blowing it away. :-)

We're having a heat wave today . . . 28F with another 2-4" of snow. Back to 0F and lower the next few nights. I'm going to get on my ski pants and go out in the woods behind my house with my K-30 in a few minutes.

Sometimes I miss all the snow. Then I go outside like today in a t-shirt and wonder " what was I thinking"?

An all too familiar scene for me but we have had some great weather the last several weeks. The snow drift on my driveway went from over 7 feet high to about 3 feet now.

Is that what passes for snow in West Virginia?

We sweep that much off the drive every day in these parts

LOL, that's what we say to people further South. My sister in South Carolina is suppose to get 2 inches of snow tomorrow and it's a big deal down there.

Cheers
