More feeder birds
Lens: A-400 Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Whitney, Ontario, Canada ISO: 400 Aperture: F8
Posted By: normhead, 01-27-2014, 02:44 PM

A blogging photographer told me last week he gets 300 hits on his blog for a squirrel, but his birds only get 3 -5 hits. I'm providing a squirrel as a loss leader.

SMC A-400 with K-3
ISO 400 (the last few at ISO 800 ƒ8 Shutter set by AV mode 1/250 to 1/000, all images taken on a tripod with 2 second delay.

Very sharp images on the tripod there! I like the red bird and the squirrel best.
p.s. can I see a house in the squirrels eye?

I can't believe you saw that, I didn't. That is my house, but the circular distortion is ridiculous. Honest, my house doesn't have a barn style roof.

You're giving that K-3 a good workout with great results.

I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but I think that first one is NOT A BIRD

Great shots!

No, but according to some guy, I'll get more views with squirrels than birds. And we have to have more views don't we?

It's a purple finch, this year we have Goldfinches and Purple Finches, last year I believe Grossbeaks and Redpolls. Someting different every year.

Excellent, Norm! All of them - and the K3 seems to get the best out of the A400. At least in the hands of a very capable photographer.

I kept telling him his tail wasn't in the frame, and that he should put it down a little, he didn't listen.

I'm starting to think Rupert is onto something with this squirrel thing.

Man, these look terrific, Norm. I'm ornithologically challenged and hardly know one bird from another, but I've heard the term purple finch, but I don't remember ever actually seeing one - an attractive bird, indeed. I see something that looks like that little guy in the last one around our bird feeders fairly often; is that a chickadee?

The last one is a Chickadee, and it's fairly easy to get those guys to take seed off your hand if you so desire.
