Wind Shear
Posted By: Bob Harris, 01-30-2014, 10:09 PM

We have very high winds, 60mph, in the Coachella Valley today which is throwing up quite a bit of dirt in the air giving some nice color at sunset. You can see the effects of wind shear in the middle of the photo that is blowing the clouds into a massive cloud group. To give an idea how high and large this is, that is Mt. San Jacinto at the bottom of the photos and sits at the elevation of 10,800'.

Phenomenal images. I think this would look great printed on metal or metallic paper (the paper which was originally designed for B/W printing and had copper or aluminum oxide imbedded in to the surface).

Dave
That would be interesting to see this photo printed, when we get off of the road into a house I would like to try a few. Thanks for the idea and kind words, always appreciated. Bob.

Glad you enjoyed the view, with our wide open spaces, mixed with wind and a few clouds you just never know what might turn up. Got to keep the camera handy.

I can't think of a single orchid with the grandeur of that sky!

thanks Julie, but an orchid is certainly beautiful to view, so soft and intricate and lasts so much longer than this sky I captured. We'll call it a stalemate, glad you enjoyed the view.

Remco, generally if there are a few clouds and sun we get a wonderful sunset or strange cloud formations like this due to the wind.
