I just thought that some people might like to see the two setups I used in last weekends events, along with the results I got from each one.
I'll start with my K100D.
I used a OLD K-Mount 55mm f1.8 lens. Modified so I can use it on either of my cameras. Along with the pop-up flash. Plus I was shooting in RAW, and processed the pic's using ACDSee Pro.
All I had to do was bump the contrast just a hair to get these results.
All the data should be in place.
And heres the setup which had pro's shooting with both Nikon, and Canon watching me nervously
My Sigma SD14, with a Sigma 24 - 70 f2.8 zoom, a Vivitar side grip, and the EF-500 DG Super flash being triggered by remote.
The reason for the side grip is because my Sigma locks up when I have the flash mounted on the hotshoe. This eliminated the problem, and allowed me to shoot over 500 trouble free photographs.
It'll be going in for some warranty repair soon to correct the problem.
Anyways heres the results I got with this setup.
Again, I just played with the contrast for a moment, in the Sigma software.
Again, the data should be there.
I can't post the photos taken with their on-site pro, however I can assure you that mine blew his away. And I probably have less invested in both my setups than he has in just one.
I was actually surprised at what the other pros sere shooting.
Other than him using a Nikon their on-site pro used a system similar to my Sigma.
It looked like he was using the same lens as well, which I found to be a very good choice.
However the others were all using what looked like 70 - 200mm zooms. Which would have been overkill in this venue
Only one out of about 6 was using a flash, so the others would have been using something like ISO 1600 to get a decent shutter speed.
I seriously would have hated to see their results.
We were all shooting from the first two rows, so with a little research they should have had a good idea what to take along, and what to leave at home.
