Icy Rocky Fork
Lens: DA 12-24, Tamron 28-75, others Camera: K20D Photo Location: East Tennessee

Have enjoyed several recent wintry trips out to Rocky Fork wilderness - mostly to assist with planning for our NEW state park! Low temperatures made for some fascinating icicles.

Some of the smaller and slower streams were quite icy.

But larger streams, with more flow, were pretty much ice free.

Despite the cold, the mosses and lichens are thriving here.

The largest waterfall in this wilderness is found at the northeast corner of Rocky Fork. Here's a small spring on the way to the falls - with the most water I've ever seen in it!

And here's a view of the main falls - also with plenty of flow!

And some rushing water at and below the Triple Falls, right near the main entrance to Rocky Fork.

Hope you enjoyed these cool, wet scenes, and that you'll have a chance to experience this wild place for yourself sometime. Thanks in advance for any comments & critique.

Jim - You are too kind! That last one is at one of my favorite spots along the main stream at Rocky Fork.

Jac - You'll just have to come visit sometime!

Susan - And thanks for taking time to comment!

Sdenby - It's a lovely wet place full of so many little falls - makes it hard to finish a planned hike in time!

Ted - Any time you are in the area, let me know and I'll be glad to take you for a Rocky Fork Hike.

Larry - Thanks! Rocky Fork is a perfect place to practice photographing moving water. Or a perfect place to just see & enjoy...

Norbert - Thanks for your kind words!
