Good thing these guys are slow!

This time of year last year's crop of beavers disperse from their dens to start their own colonies.

I came across this kit, yesterday evening, who was at first co-operative, but then, when he realized I was between him and the water, he came after me on the run. Fortunately beavers aren't the fastest runners. I can't imagine the damage their teeth would do. Nice claws, too, huh?

The first time I've heard a beaver growl.

Very nice shots Tom, I like the 2nd one best. Chased by a beaver....hmmm. Kinda backwards?

I accidentally hooked one once on a stream out near Rocky Mountain House...they sure put a bend in a flyrod....

Geat shots Tom. Yeah, wouldn't want to get anywhere near those teeth or claws. Mind, only just finished watching a TV programme on Black Bear attacks in Canada. That was really scary. Still hoping to immigrate though.

You did a fine job sneeking up on it. I love the first shot. Thanks for sharing Tom.

That is one wet beaver. Too bad I've never seen one in real life.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the feedback.

It was pouring rain when I took these shots. The beaver was soaked to the skin.

Pat (ve2vfd)- careful!

Lens used was FA*300 (it is mounted on my camera with crazy glue...)

Stephen- I've been a fan of Brenders for many years. Love his work!

So, Scott- did you land it???

I googled for the national animal of Portugal, and in Wikipedia it came up as ?!!?

I'll go with the beaver any day.

Nope Tom..I pointed the rod straight at it and let the tippet break. Somehow landing it just didn't seem like a clever idea....
