Given my ignorance of the topic, what did the tilt adapter allow you to do here that you couldn't accomplish without it?

That looks like one of my plastic models from when I was a kid. Most of them went up in flames during simulated battles FIRE, FIRE!

I have to say I agree with the first response. The tilt isn't necessary in this shot, only makes it seem a little "lomo" in style and draws away from the tank. Without the tilt, the shot would still be good. Or maybe it needs more tilt, to make the tank look more miniature? I'm not sure that would work at such a near photo, though.
But war machines pretty much always look good on photo

Interesting photo. Looks like one outside a legion in my town, in an area called Charleswood.

I like the shot - the snow is captured well and the tank looks quite menacing and quite miniature.

I didn't know what Tilt Adapter was until you started posting. Your pics, especially the trains, do look like toys.
I assume this Titl Adapter effect can be done with lens or post processing ?

Regarding the use of tilt: I thought this was a toy tank when I first looked at the image, so I would say mission accomplished.

The tilt lens tilts the DOF on an angle to the sensor. You can actually get very small DOF or infinite depending on your subject and the direction of tilt. You can also tilt it so the dof runs parallel to say the ground and get a landscape that all the short objects like grass and shrubbery are in focus from the camera to infinity, but all the trees, buildings and other tall structures are out of focus.

A tilt adapter can also be used in architectural shots to correct the perspective.

Aye your right it doesn't look very big, don't think I'd fancy my chances in one of those.

Great. Bonus points for braving the weather, too.
