Alachua Sink

No Sandhill Cranes but we still had the usual suspects milling around.
Some of the biggest gators we have seen live here and love to follow you as you walk along the dike.

I watched and listened to this Great Blue Heron trying to clear his throat

He finally managed it.

A Green Heron. Don't get a chance to see too many of these especially to get close enough to photograph.

And lastly, a hawk. I have no idea what kind. I keep forgetting to look him up. He was looking me up though.

Amazing photos! They are all very good. I like the hawk best myself - he's staring right into your lens!

Great shots. That gator looks like its smiling for the camera!
But you really nailed the focus and caught some interesting moments, great work. And the way you took the hawk photo really shows off its camouflage pattern. Don't see that very often, usually birds are either completely "isolated" or the photo is such that the bird is hard to even notice. This is the perfect balance

Awesome. I would not get that close to anything that could eat me though. Here in New Jersey we just have Snapping Turtles.

Great shots! I lived in Gainesville for over 10 years, and just moved away last year. How I miss those hikes! Please, indulge my nostalgia, and keep posting!

Is the first photo of Alligator or a Crocodile? Looks like a croc to me, but is a bit hard to tell with a side view. Curious American crocodile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Great Series Slowpez. Thanks for sharing.

Looks a lot more lively than my kitchen sink!

These are all great, but I especially like the alligator. He looks so smug.

Thanks Na. Appreciate your comment especially about the hawk photo. I seem to always be trying for that balance and just got lucky this time.

We seem to spend more and more time in Florida (the old bones get cold easily and it is a little warmer than South Carolina.)

Not a croc. The only crocs in the area are to be found in the Everglades

He should be smug. Lots of eating opportunities in the sink.
