I just picked up a Tamron SP 300mm lens last week. Having read countless threads about how Pentax AF along with 3 frames per second is nowhere near enough to do anything useful, I thought I'd go out and give things a try (tongue planted firmly in cheek :-) ).
This is my first real attempt at 'birding'.
Gull in flight (510mm f/8 equiv, Tamron SP 300mm, Pentax 1.7x TC)
Swan landing (510mm f/8 equiv, Tamron SP 300mm, Pentax 1.7x TC)
This was the first bird I saw coming in for a landing. Clearly my excitement led to a complete inability to keep the lens pointed at the subject. Still, I thought I'd share.
Moon (510mm f/6.8? equiv, Tamron SP 300mm, Pentax 1.7x TC)
Thanks for looking.
