Moon
Lens: Sigma 70-300mm Camera: K-7

Thought I would have a go at a moon shot before it got too dark. Never had too much success with moons before and this is the first one I felt worth posting.

There are only two simple rules when photographing the Moon.

the first - do not take pictures in a full Moon.
the second - do not take pictures in a new Moon.





and also need hands masters like you.

Moon halo

I just captured this curious picture of the moon a few hours ago. I think it's what's called a 'moon dog' but not sure.

There where thin whispy clouds in the sky and I think the light is being somehow bent or reflected by the clouds making the strange halo.




I used a Tamron 10-24 at 10mm on my K-3. Exposure is 10 seconds with Astrotracer. Not sure if the Astrotracer made any difference given the wide angle and short exposure time.
