Moon last night
Lens: Sigma 100-300mm F4 Camera: K-5 IIs Photo Location: Utrecht ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F8

Since one month I have started to look up at the skies at night.

My latest attempt using a Sigma 100-300mm F4 with a Sigma 1,4x teleconvertor at (1/400sec - 420mm - F7.1 - iso 200):

it's not childish pranks. this is a serious job.
That the Moon can be studied in a astronomy class.
or art painting.

One of the sharpest moon shots I have seen well done - were in a dark sky area ?

I was amazed how much detail is visible. It depends on the angle the sun has to the moon. When this picture was taken the sun made some shadows on the smaller craters, which make them visible. All my full moon shots have less detail because the sun does not cast shadows (only at the edges)
It was taken from my balcony in Utrecht (near the centre of the city).
A cold and cloudless sky so pretty good circumstances, but surely not a dark area.
