A Few More Cars
Posted By: Sailor, 02-11-2014, 03:36 PM

This afternoon, I reviewed the pictures I took at this year's new car Auto Show in Houston, some of which I already covered in earlier posts. Here are a few more shots for the car folk among us who are anticipating some exhilarating driving come spring.

Jer

An Audi RS5 coupe - impressive and fast. In the second shot, my car-guy buddy John inspects the car's interior; a previous C-6 'Vette owner, John now drives a big Genesis 5.0 R-Spec sedan which sports a 429 HP V-8 that's smooth as silk.

BMW 650i Convertible - pretty snazzy and pretty pricy.

A tricked-up Aston convertible.

Some Lambos on display from after-market companies that do tuning and supply protective coatings.

As you would expect - all the girls were over in the Porsche exhibit .

The Lambos are nice but that audi is PURE SEX. I do have jaded glasses because I am an audi owner, but man o man that thing is sexy.
The first car that was ever mine was a 1970 Audi 100LS my father handed down to me at 75,xxx. I was all smiley face studly Hooahh over it until our German teacher told me Audi sedans were taxis in Germany.

So I picked up my dates in an imported version of a Checker.

I couldn't make an Audi workl for me today - and I sure couldn't take these photos!!

Nice ones.

Hey - thanks very much - I appreciate the kind words. Interesting comment about Audi cabs in Germany - I'm sure they're used a lot, but the only cabs I've taken during various visits to Germany were Mercedes diesels.

Interesting, Jer, thanks for sharing .We have more than our share of exotics on the street here in Miami. I see a Lambo once in a while, but never looking that slick!

Thanks, Julie. I'm sure Miami has lots of cool cars coming and going. It's not unusual to see a Ferrari or Lambo in the Houston area, although they certainly aren't common.

As a Christmas present from my daughter, last fall I rode shot gun in a Lambo Gallardo on a track with a race driver. It's an amazing car, indeed, but it wouldn't be very "street friendly." For the kind of "vigorous" driving I do on county back roads (and for the sake of keeping more money in my pocket), I'll stick with my Porsche - if for no other reason I can get in and out of it without (too much) difficulty.

Well you must have my share, never get anything like that here!

Probably just as well they would get swallowed by the potholes in the roads around here.

Surely 007 has roared by in an Aston occasionally .

Yah, the real exotics are more common in the Miami-Vice parts of town, much less so out here in the 'burbs. Couple of rental companies that will -- for a price -- provide you with one for the day (or night, as the Biebs did recently). But we do see them from time to time; there's a Maserati (not sure of the model) in the neighborhood, I see it semi-regularly. Ages ago, a guy across the street had two (yes, two) DeLoreans. I think one was for parts...

Maseratis are beautiful cars, and occasionally we see one around here.
