Bob, Saturn on these dates was nearing Earth at 10.5 astronomical units.
But looking at the size of the planet, I would say that it is maybe not Saturn, but Jupiter.
Bob, thanks so fantastically clear picture, we can argue about the name of the visible planets. It's perfect!
Generally during that month in 2013 Moon visited close to all the bright planets.
Thank you, Bob.
ZZ, I originally posted Jupiter and researched on line and it appeared to be Saturn so I edited it and changed. Thanks for the correction, appreciated.

shooting in TAV seems to do the trick in hand held but ISO is up but I just took some of the noise out, thanks Bruce.

Originally posted by MSL The title is as good as the image. Handheld is not easy unless you crank up the ISO a bit and/or you are really talented, which you are. Funny how a little "speck" and a good title makes this more than just a simple moon shot.
thanks Marc, actually I thought the title was the best part of the thread.
You're right about the tiny speck, I didn't know what it was and just took several photos, later to learn it was a planet. A glass of fine Merlot calms the nerves and makes for better hand held photos for me,

hey thanks Dave, there's nothing like sitting outside during December, temps in the 60's taking photos. With beer in hand for company, oh Terri too.
