Home grown ice
Lens: SuperTak 135/3.5 +CPL Camera: K5

I posted elsewhere about the 20 foot snowbanks in the mall parking lot. Another effect of the prolonged cold spell, with little thawing in between is you can get some monster ice spikes growing. This one is on a neighbors house - so I was limited to shooting from a less than obvious spot (no telephotos aimed at their windows ). We are expecting somewhat warmer weather the next few days so it wouldn't surprise me if these spikes come crashing down soon.

We are starting to grow a few of those ourselves. Scary having them above your head like that. At least we still have electricity and hopefully will keep it although it has sleeted all day. Ugh but winter can be ugly.

amazing Marc, never seen any that large except on waterfalls. Don't stand beneath those, they would go right through you. Great shot

Fortunately it is hanging from the upper roof of the neighbors house and has a lower roof below it. If it goes in one piece though, it will make a heck of noise when it hits and shatters.
