Movie Shoot...
Posted By: maxwell1295, 04-14-2008, 06:07 PM

Please excuse the crappy pics, but I just had to post this. I went into the city today to meet my wife after work. I wanted to do some street scene shooting, but was pretty uninspired. This inspite of a beautiful day. On the way back to railroad station we happened upon this:

Take 1:

"Come on,'re better than that"

Take 2:

The crew and their "stuff" (check out the HUGE reflector):

I probably wouldn't have stopped to take these shots if it weren't for my wife. She was pretty psyched about seeing one of her favorite actresses in person.

BTW, those crappy pics are of Julia Roberts and Clive Owen, shoot a film called Duplicity which is due out in 2009.

When I was walking away, some woman asked me if I was a paparazzi. I said no and that I just happened to be walking by when I noticed the scene. Maybe I should have said yes....she might have bought the pics! I guess I did kinda look like one with that big ol' A70-210 on the end of the camera.

Nice thing to stumble upon... and a good photojournal/paparazzi work.

I have a personal Julie Roberts story that involves Las Vegas, a swimming suit, an innertube, a birthday cake, and a loud band. But that is a story for another day. For now, lets just say she is a tiny little thing.

Cool! It's Julia!

Someday you need to come down to Taos and hang out at the local health-food store, where she shops when in town. Folks here treat her just like one of the crowd.

Having been raised and live in Southern California, movie production is more of a hassle (as it affects traffic) than anything. You're right, however. We see actors and actress as 'larger than life', but in reality, they are not all that "big".

Surprised that they let you shoot during filming, (noise and all). They normally ask for quiet, then after the film camera is off, they don't care how much you shoot a SLR.

They only stopped traffic and asked for quiet when they were actually rolling film (the scene took about 8-10 secs). There were a TON of press photogs there that were pretty close. You can see one of them in the first pic.

Between takes, she would put on these big sunglasses, I guess to keep people from getting a good look at her. She also kept her back to the crowd whenever she wasn't filming. Anytime she turned around the people would go crazy.
