Well composed, in a minimalist kind of tradition, with some texture (a nice detail for the background)! But if you are taking a photo with a tripod, you can set ISO 100 and have the exposure longer, that would give you a little bit less noise in the photo.

Thanks for the tip. I had ISO at 800 (even though it says 1,000). But I'm sure your tip will reduce noise and I did use a tripod. Another thought - I think it looks like noise where it is actually the way the seed looked.

Ah yes, the texture does remind of noise! I just saw ISO 1000 and thought Id share. If I am using a tripod for a still subject, I almost always go for lowest possible ISO for best quality

Ironically, I posted a photo at dpreview once that had a long shutter with low ISO and someone replied, "why don't you use higher ISO and less shutter time."

LOL

But I agree with you, as one should normally strive to have less noise unless one wants that grainy effect.

Not sure how the k-r does for noise, but you don't seem to have much here. I do wonder why you stopped down to F32 - what you might gain in depth of field you should start to lose in diffraction issues - at least that's what I've read here over and over.
I guess the other question on the composition is whether the shadow was intentional or not? Seems like you might have done better with a light directly overhead?

There is nice texture in the seed. I like the minimalist approach.
