Cold things (long)
Photo Location: WV

Along with my "Old Things" post, I thought I'd add in some pics celebrating our ongoing spell of frigid weather. K-30 and 55-300 WR, or the Q and 01 lens.

Unbroken snow

No creek crossings today

Frozen fern fronds

I think this is Dogwood, but it could also be Blackhaw

The oddest things catch my eye sometimes

Brrrr!!

Typical canyon scene

Small Cascade

It looks a lot nicer when the water is emerald green

Poor thing

Unhappy Magnolia

Joe-Pye Weed is an attractive butterfly magnet in late Summer and early Autumn

Just because it was there

This last one is just for nostalgia. Not far around the bend in the distance, there is a tiny tributary that comes out of a steep ravine to the right. Follow that 3/4 mile, and you end up on my family homestead. I spent many happy days as a youth roaming these woods.

#6 is pretty sweet. If it's still there, you should go back and do some closeups!

Thanks, but that was as close as I could get without falling in the creek. I could have zoomed in more, but I wanted a broader perspective.

You could have stopped with the Brrrr!! image. It kind of sums up the current weather.

The oddest things catch my eye sometimes -- on the fifth photo.

in appearance, it resembles a termite mound.
but how?

Just coincidence. It's an old rotted stump.

I appreciate everyone stopping by to look.

Nice series a really good walk about. I love the ice-cycles and stream wish I had some running steams here to go capture.

What is it with all you people going out to play in these conditions, had you all run out of whisky?
