Got a favourite lens or 2? Post some pics from it.
Posted By: Peter Zack, 04-15-2008, 09:29 AM

I was just going through all my images from the past year and thought a thread of a few images from a favourite lens or two might be interesting. Pick a few of your favourites and post them. A little data about the lens and the shot would be good. Nothing like some good pics to fuel the LBA!!

So to begin:
1) Bigma (Sigma 50-500mm F4-5.6 EX) , yes I like this lens for many uses.
500mm f6.7 1/125 ISO 100

2) Pentax SMC FA135mm f2.8
135mm 1/320 f8 ISO 400
This is an education in watching the background. I wish the orange flower wasn't right behind the sharp subject.

3)Pentax SMC FA135mm f2.8
135mm 1/100 f9 ISO 400

4)Pentax SMC FA135mm f2.8
135mm 1/1000 f8 ISO400

As I go through the old files (there are a few!) I may add more.

Sigma 17-70, great lens. Its sharp but its the colour/contrast rendition that really impresses me.....

No question the Sigma is a very good lens Simon. I'd seen those first 2 before (and both are excellent images) but the 3rd is new to me. Great shot and as you say, the colour and contrast of these shots is excellent.

Some good stuff with some great lenses. next time someone asks about a lens. Point them here.
Love the shot of the horse Dave. The white on white is great and the eyes are haunting. The ship is cool as well with the submarine in the background. A few centuries of warfare/sailing on display. Kguru, the kit lens did a nice job with the evening sky and what more can you say about the great 77mm? Nice stuff Chris, your lighting techniques and shooting style are almost a signature. Looks like the 16-50 is a winner.

I bought my Vivitar Series 1 105 f/2.5 this winter. In Minnesota, the macro possibilities in winter
amount to shots of coins, marbles on the counter, random stuff pulled out of the junk
drawer, birdseed. Not what you'd call... inspirational.

Today, I got home from work, and it was 55 degrees and sunny - but incredibly windy -
our April equivalent of balmy & beautiful. Wife was out back with the little guy, and she
pointed out a small patch of purple flowers poking up through last fall's dead stuff. Literally,
the only living, colorful thing in the back yard. I went and got the Viv, not expecting much -
never shot any serious macro before, it was super windy, and I didn't have a tripod. Figured
I'd just take look at 1-2 and 1-1 magnification, colors, DOF, basically just get a feel for the Viv.

To my surprise I was able to get off shot after shot of more than acceptable 1-2 shots, and
even a few 1-1 shots - on a windy day, handheld, sitting in the grass.

I'm amazed at this lens right now - and it's moved into a temporary lead for my favorite.

Here's a 1-2 (or 3?) snapshot, handheld, jpeg:

Oh Fishy Fishy Fishy Oh where could you be ?

Some fantastic shots all kinda of turns LBA into LBA

One of my favorite lens is the DA 10-17 and here are two of my favorites pics

10mm, f8, 1/750, ISO 100 (dramatic Fisheye Effect)
[IMGWIDEleft]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2102/2310900273_853ccb4925_b.jpg[/IMGWIDEleft]

Even at 10mm the fisheye effect can be less dramatic pending on the overall lines. I thinks this give a good idea of the sharpness and color rendition

10mm, f9.5,1/15, ISO 100 (a much more subtle Fishey Effect)
[IMGWIDEleft]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2023/2221248325_174afe8351_b.jpg[/IMGWIDEleft]

Keep'em comming !

This thread was a terrible idea. it is making me want to spend money that I don't have. I really want that Sigma 50-500mm.
