Fungus, and an old friend returns home...
Posted By: Buddha Jones, 04-15-2008, 10:18 AM

I just got the DA35LTD and DA*200mm today so I dropped everything that I was doing and went out to test. I popped on the DA35 and went out back to take some shots of the only thing growing in my yard at the moment, some fungus on a wooden fence.

And while I was trying to check the focus and composition the fence splintered me in the forearm so I backed off to pull out the pieces and look who is staring me in the face...

An old friend, from almost two years ago... August 2006 actually. I didnt bother to PP todays photos so he is w/o makup on if you would.

So I go ahead and postition him next to the fungus, where we made such wonderful images last time.

But he wasnt as photogenic this time around...

So for kicks I went and put un the 200mm to see how close I could get to him...

#3 is the winner my friend! I totally dig the lighting and the concept of the shot. I think You've found a gem of a lens and I can't wait to see more from it.

#3 is actually the picture from 2006 taken with the DA18-55mm kit lens, that one I ran through my post processing, the images from today (the other 5) I didnt. Yeah, my kit lens is a gem, I'll never get rid of it.

Here is a PP version of one of todays images...

I agree with Chris, the lighting on the 3rd one is really nice. What a great day for you, two really nice lenses show up and one is a macro for your little friends arrival... and I like your framing of the shots...
Have fun with the new lenses.

We all should have days like this...

Great pics- they are my kind of subjects.

Given the lifecycles of bugs that is more likely to be your old friends great granddaughter. Moths often have hairy caterpillar stages - woudn't know the breed.
