I would say around two meters hand held with flash on the second shot, I give all credit to the DA*300 it can be tack sharp when you get it right.

Thank you all for your kind comments, It is a lot easier when they stand still for you, you take some great BIF shots Susan I will be working on that end I have a lot of Hawks around when I don't have a camera.:-)
