Stone Apple Brass Stem

This really is a rock, not an apple.
I had more problems blocking the light reflections that I did NOT want, than getting light where I wanted it.
LOL

The standard trick to killing off reflections from glass is a circular polarizer. Otherwise you have to depend on getting the light at just the right angles (or mostly not at the wrong ones )

Is that a brolly we're seeing? if so try something to diffuse it and shoot through the material, that might help reduce the specular highlights.

ahh, well yes. That is a silver reflecting umbrella, and I wanted it there.
What I did not want was the window light from a bout six different directions! LOL
There was another on the other side as well, but that one just blocked one of the windows.

I liked this one because of the unusual light pattern the brolly made. I had tried to use a white shoot through, but it was so obviously an umbrella, kinda boring.

Most of the rest of the shots had shadows visible, or light reflecting from the wooden top of the jar onto the bottom third of the apple.
Used flash behind backdrop reflecting off ceiling and a hand held flash off to the side pointing at the umbrella on the right.

I kind of like those concentric, spider-like reflections. What are they?

I would have no idea how to begin to set up a shot like this. Must have been extremely difficult. You did well.

Thank you! It was a challenge to use the red as background and not have a red mess.
