These statues represent something unknown and the sport, aviation and something unknown.

There's a winter river crossing. The figure of a woman ashore. She looks at a woman fighter pilot.

The Moscow Canal, named the Moscow-Volga Canal until the year 1947, is a canal that connects the Moskva River with the Volga River.
It was constructed from the year 1932 to the year 1937 by Gulag prisoners during the early to mid Stalin era, under the direction of Matvei Berman. During the process about 22,000 prisoners died.
Thanks to the Moscow Canal, Moscow has access to five seas: the White Sea, Baltic Sea, Caspian Sea, Sea of Azov, and the Black Sea. This is why Moscow is sometimes called the "port of the five seas" .

Thanks for your post and its info ... My Russian history is quite weak being an American ... we were never taught too much about this era. I visited Moscow once about ten years ago and went to Suzdal' which was beautiful ... J

Thank you for the post. In many countries there have been stupid atrocities. Ours is the treatment of people of Japanese extraction on the West Coast of Canada during the Second World War. They lost everything and were shipped to camps in the interior of Canada. We were not as cruel with them in the camps, but they were no picnic, either. Whole families were in small cabins with little. When will mankind wake up and treat people as people?

It would be interesting to find out the story behind the woman dressed as a fighter pilot. TFS. The map is the largest thing I have had to upload.

Interesting history, but I can't help wondering why did they put such wonderful sculptures in such remote places.
