Walk to an old Coal Mine Hoist
Lens: Pentax DA 55-300mm Camera: k-r Photo Location: WV ISO: 800 Aperture: F16

My father walks to the old Coal Mine Hoist in Raleigh County, WV

He looks at the old hoist. Two wheels, one on each side, have been stolen by iron thieves. The larger wheel, still here and with cut marks on it, the thieves tried to steel but the iron was too thick.

A look over the mountain side before walking home

Was your father once a miner and worked there?

Great story, the back shots actually add to it because it looks like you're looking at the past. Nice work!

He must feel a little sad when he sees it in this state of disrepair.

Yes. What saddens him the most is the 2 wheels that were stolen from it.

Great storytelling photos, Michael. The personal narrative makes them even more meaningful. Thanks for sharing
