Birthday boy
Lens: DA 18-135mm WR Camera: K-30
Posted By: ausmoose, 02-25-2014, 12:02 AM

It was my brother's birthday today so I took some photos for the photo albums. Without proper post processing software at the moment I couldn't edit the shots, but here is my favourite (no PP). Finally caught my black smudge looking sharp too!

Hope you like it, please post your C&C!

Nice!

Very well done, ausmoose. Nailed the focus, good lighting, great expression. A keeper!

Thanks so much for your feedback, REALLY appreciate it. I was very glad after I snapped it too - the cat jumped away and hid so there wasn't time for two!!

The cat doesn't look happy. Good and lucky shot then.

No, he wasn't. That's the reason their heads are so far apart - he was pushing to get away!

You didn't need two, you nailed it in one, great shot.

Super impromptu portait - really well captured. I much prefer this sort of portrait to "staged" ones.

May I suggest a little tuna fish on your brother's cheek?
Others have said you nailed it, and I agree. Further, you picked the right aperture to get both their heads in focus, whiskers, noses, eye and all, but left the background sufficiently blurred. Well done.

...Immediately thought of the trek episode of when Data wanted Worf to take care of his cat Spot and handed the cat to Worf and the cat was pushing away against the 'Worf' character in the scene.

It is such a cool photo.

Very nicely done. My cats would never sit still for a portrait. Always had to sneak up on them. See you are still without a computer. Hope you get it fixed soon. Lack of one sure didn't hurt you on this one though.

Thanks for the compliment, really appreciate it. Bought a new hard drive for the computer and am thinking I will just use the backup and lose the couple days where my photos are not backed up.

Thanks so much shervonne, haven't watched that episode but I can see what you're saying Sounds very similar.

Where? I can't see it, but if I do I'll edit it out when I can. Thanks for the great feedback, really appreciate it.

Yeah, I do too, especially with my brother - the staged ones come with fake looking smiles often but for this one he was genuinely laughing at Misty (the cat) trying to get away.

Thanks all for the super feedback, really makes me feel good I did like the photo a lot after I took it too

I think you misinterpreted my comment as there isn't anything I want you to edit out. I'm suggesting you deliberately put a little tuna fish or other fishy liquid or whatever the cat likes on your brother's face in order to encourage the cat to want to be closer to your brother
