I Think I Caught Something!
Lens: Pentax DA 55-300 WR Camera: Pentax K3 Photo Location: Colorado River ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F9.5

I can hear the pleading of some child that wanted to "go home now".
Then again it also reminds me of Arnold's 'Poor Bird' shot. It was out over the water and not reachable to remove.

Any opinions on cropping with this one? Should I have left more edge on the right of the top pic?

composion

The horizontal seems to work because when we look at a picture, the eye movement starts at the lower left corner and moves counter clockwise and the branch acts like a leading line. To prove this, compare the feel you experience looking at the horizontal picture you've posted to one that is printed oppsite, one that has the lower branch at the lower right hand corner. Then you will understand what I'm talking about. Great picture and neat caption also. PS. if the composition was a square format it wouldn't matter rather the framing was vertical or horizontal, the eye movment still have the same effect.

I love the colorful bobber against the charcoal background. Nicely done. The camera sure handled that high ISO well.

I like the landscape mode photo better, too.

The shots are great, my only comment is that i hope you cut it down and took it away after the photos so no wildlife could get snagged or entangled

Definitely prefer the second photo - a little context goes a long way!

Alas, likely would have been my best attempt of the day, unfortunately.
