UCONN v. Cincinnati NCAA Basketball
Lens: Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Hartford, CT
Posted By: Fat Albert, 03-02-2014, 02:12 PM

Hi folks,

Brought my camera to the game yesterday....not the best seats, but it was still lots of fun! I'm pretty terrible at post-processing, so please forgive any glaring PP errors.

A defensive struggle! What the game lacked in scoring, it made up for in grit.

I was really happy with how the Sigma performed when combined with the AF thumb button. Nearly flawless tracking. I started out in AV and quickly realized that 1/125 shutter speeds weren't going to cut it. TV the rest of the way. If I had the 70-200/2.8 I'd really be in business!

Your best bet is to use TAv mode IMO. I shoot a lot of HS sports (soccer, basketball, hockey) and it's they only way to go . Set your shutter speed and aperture as appropriate and let the camera adjust ISO on the fly. Tip though, for me setting the max ISO allwoed to 6400 works best.
