Dogs in Action
Lens: various but mainly the Tamron 90 macro f/2.8 Camera: K-5, K-x Photo Location: South Algonquin Ontario
Posted By: tessfully, 03-03-2014, 06:51 AM

I put together a bunch of action shots I've taken over the last few years. Thought it would be fun to share here. Thanks for looking (Woof!!)

A rare action shot of Old Dreamer so full of joy!

One of my favourite 'Tripper jumps' shots from last summer

Missing our Kenzie like crazy. She never acted like a dog with a bad heart.

Little Misty has never slowed down...

A fun shot of them racing down the hill

Tripper is always game for a photo shoot!

Well, I have to stop somewhere, so I'll finish with Kenzie.

Tess, these made the day as our 16 year old Aussie is barking to go out in the rain again!

Tess, those are wonderful photos, vibrant and full of life. That's also the technical quality I strive for when I shoot, but I often fall short.

Oh thank you lukulele! Give your Aussie a pat for me! Misty is a miniature Aussie, although she did grow too big for the title. Last time we weighed her she was over 40 pounds and mini's are suppose to only be between 18 - 28 pounds max.

Thank you Tony. I love that you coin "vibrant and full of life" as a "technical quality"... lovely compliment.

Such a great series of images. Each one is so good that I couldn't pick a favorite if I tried. Love them all.

Tess you hit me where I live with those shots I so love seeing them having so much fun. Especially the grey face with the big smile and you did such a wonderful job of capturing it all.

Cheers Ed

Hot Dog!

A wonderful, sharply-drawn series, Tess! Although the stop-action shots probably will grab the most attention, my favorites are the slowed-down character studies, the photo of Kenzie, the blurred panning photo and the B+W conversion of two dogs in the snow.
Somehow, they show more feeling because they're less dramatic, if that makes any sense.
Anyhow, great set, TFS!
Ron

Glad you liked them Ed! Yes, that one really tugs at my heart. I will definitely be putting that photo in a special place.

Thank you Ron I love how you describe those as character studies. I do know what you mean, but the unadulterated joy on Tripper's face as he catches those balls is pretty special to see too. It always amazes me to see the expressions on the dogs faces. Photography is an amazing thing.

As slowpez is to birds in flight, and eaglem to roses, and resne and others to macro, you have done with these dog action shots. And this is why we all hang out here
