Just came back from an amazing trip to Vegas.

Here are my 25ish best shots of the trip.

All shot with K5 and 12-24. Wonderful, wonderful lens and camera for this sort of work. I was happy to leave the D800 at home.

Valley of Fire

What a place! Wow! Taking great photographs requires no effort whatsoever, the area speaks for itself. We rented a convertible Mustang for the day and drove ourselves. This was the highlight of the entire trip for me. Beats the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon

We took the helicopter tour since I didn't want to take a 10 hours bus tour there nor did I want to drive myself.

Shooting through the window proved difficult. We went on the 7:00AM tour thinking I'd have decent light, but the sun was already pretty high by the time we were in the air at around 8:00AM. Plus, we had no clouds, so the sun shined through the windows and made reflections difficult to deal with.

I am still satisfied with the result, but an open canopy ride would have been much more awesome

24. I take one selfie every two years, tops. The occasion seemed to call for it.

27. This photo would be perfect (in my eyes and taste, obviously) if it weren't for that big ugly arm reflection I can't get rid of. I'm not good enough with the cloning tool to fix this.

I had killer steaks at Outback twice while I was in Vegas. I discovered this chain there as we don`t have it in Canada.

Awesome! I've been to Vegas a few times for work, but never saw much fun in gambling or shows, I loved Valley of Fire and Red Rock though. You did a great job capturing them!

I do like my photos to be constrasty and vibrant. I'm pretty comfortable with my PP at this stage, I suppose it comes down to personal taste at this point

PS. Does your monitor sport an IPS panel and is it calibrated? My workstation is, but not my laptop, and they do look over-constrasty on my laptop.

Nice set.
The first 16 I think were a little over saturated -- for my taste. I liked the natural look for the subsequent ones. I think I might be tempted to experiment with converting some of these to B&W.
I really liked the aerial views. Next time, go up in a Cessna; have them take the door off. Be sure to fasten seat belt

I'm too scared to fly in a Cessna, an acquaintance of mine died in a crash.

They do have scenic tours in these bigger planes though, but I doubt they open the doors to facilitate the job of photogs

I confess that this particular monitor is not calibrated using my Spyder, But it's relatively consistent with my good one most of the time.
