Oakland Cemetery, Randolph Mass.

I found a new cemetery to shoot when I was at lunch today.

The best..

Old cemetaries are pretty cool. Thier headstones seem to be much more creative and suited to the people they are for.

So often as well, the older cemetaries are out in the middle of nowhere so that add to them greatly!!

There is a whole set of symbology that was used on headstones that is fascinating. It's a shame that the styles have gone away in favor of plain shiny granite.

Many of the old cemeteries in my area have had the suburbs grow around them so there are these very old stones surrounded by houses.

I love old graveyards too. The markers almost tell a story... very facinating.

The unfortunate thing is that many old cemetaries have been allowed to fall into disrepair. So many stories to be told but nobody gives a flyin' monkey.

I think you did a very good job with both the angles of the shots and the B/W conversion.

A nice series indeed. Back when I was kid I worked in a graveyard one summer - general ground keeping and grooming. They are neat places to visit.
