Little House on the Prairie
Lens: Pentax DA 17-70 mm Camera: Pentax K-7 Photo Location: Washington State
Posted By: GeoJerry, 03-08-2014, 03:32 PM

A little artistic license…. This is a scene on the road from Seattle to Spokane, in eastern Washington state. This area looks more like Kansas than the Pacific Northwest, and in some areas it's very dry, almost desert like.

Looks very much like an Oil Painting and very nicely composed as well.

Years back we traveled through Montana and dropped into Washington from the East, we were so surprised that it was a desert area, much like the High Desert in CA. Nice job here Jerry, it does remind me of Kansas and Nebraska without corn.

Very interesting and "painterly" treatment of a vibrant image!

The blue of the sky is fantastic and the contrast of the field. Microsoft screen save material for sure.

Great shot, nothing else to say. Just one question - maybe nobody asked because it's obvious, but it isn't obvious to me: how did you bring on this oil painting look?

Thanks glad you like it. I know that there are a lot of purists who might disapprove.

Thanks for stopping by jchorst. This painterly look is achieved pretty simply, by using Topaz Simplify's BuzSim preset. After clicking on "BuzSim," you just slide the "Simplify" slider on the right panel back and forth to get the desired look.
