Thanks a lot. I am finding it to be lots of fun.
Originally posted by mole First image definitely looks "old and worn." 2nd image is my favorite though, both for the excellent expression and the very interesting PP work.
Thanks ranger. Appreciate it.
Originally posted by MSL Well since you raised the question: if anything I feel like the first one is overdone. Too many washed out spots that are too large. I rather like the third one - it gives a sense of motion and action. It might work a bit better if it were smaller, as it would hide the out of focus aspect of his face, but that's a minor quibble.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. It is definitely a learning process. Can you tell there is a lot of other horsemen behind the guy in the third shot? You can just make out a face or two.
Originally posted by patrick9 I am with Bob and MSL on the third one... I like it. It has a since of freedom and motion that anything in sharp focus would ruin. The first one has the same faded and spotty look as some of the photo's I have that my grandparents took.
Thanks Patrick. That is what I was going for.
Originally posted by eaglem I should have mentioned that Topaz as a plugin works with Lightroom as well.............
Thanks EM. Won't be buying Topaz any time soon. I am trying to bribe my husband for the new Pentax TC. It is an uphill battle.
Originally posted by MSL Willing to be wrong on my views of the first one, as I haven't seen too many old photos of this kind.
Just like a man, always changing his mind.
Originally posted by Canada_Rockies The first image is authentic. What else can I say? I like the whole series, actually, even the one with the heavy motion blur.
Thanks a lot.
Originally posted by Westoz Nice series Susan I like the second one best to first one works for me in every way except the age of the soldiers. I don't think they where that well fed either but you would be working overtime in photo-shop to fix that up.
You have to remember that these were southern soldiers. Need I say BBQ?
Originally posted by AussieTrev I just want to take these and clean up the damage. You have really aged them well.
Easy job to reverse them but then I would end up with some new photos of an old event.
