Birds on the block
Lens: Several Camera: K20D / K5 / K5lls Photo Location: Western Australia
Posted By: Westoz, 03-13-2014, 06:35 AM

About four years ago I moved a hour and a half from the suburbs of Perth to Dawsville at what my friends call the edge of civilization.
I have a nice little half acre block of land which previous owners have planted trees and flowering shrubs to attract the native wildlife and we have continued the process.
We also keep water on hand in the form of a man made stream nothing to flash and self filling bird baths, needless to say we get a lot of birds through and some that live and nest hear every year.
Over the last four years we have had 37 bird species come through unfortunately you don't always have a camera on hand so I will just post a few of each that I did catch. Hope you enjoy.

1-2 . Pink and Grey Galah

3-4 . Western Corella

5-6-7 . Honeyeaters

8-9-10 . Redcaps

Nice neighbourhood you've developed and even better than you can share it with these photos. Hope to see more.

(and just after I hit post reply, up pops your second set of images, preceding my request. too cool)

What fun it must be to sit outside your own door and see these strikingly beautiful creatures. TFS.

Lovely shots. I love that back yard. Do you need someone to run the watering can? That's about the limit of my gardening ability.

What an awesome thread. We keep scrolling up and down matching the names to the birds. So exotic and colourful... thank you so much for putting together this set.

Yes we fill up the bird feeders in the morning and then sit down to breakfast on the patio and watch the show and see who turns up.

Watering is all automatic thankfully the big job is trimming it back for fire prevention without going so far you remove the environment they come for.

Thanks Tess some of the birds we have only seen one time like the Major Mitchell or the Hybrid X I believe are Pink & Grey X Corella and I had the camera and the right lens handy.
Others like the Pink & Grey's, Pardalote's, Bronzewings are hear every day.

Thanks Cee Cee, Yes I have a large number of shots of all the regulars and surrounding areas but
I figured I needed to limit the old stuff although some of the shots are only a few weeks old.
