Moon Tonight
Lens: Sigma 150-500 Camera: K5 Photo Location: My Balcony ISO: 3200 Aperture: F8
Posted By: VoiceOfReason, 03-13-2014, 08:25 PM

It didn't let me select a shutter speed of 1/2500 second, but the rest is right! I went outside since it si nice and clear and shot the moon from my balcony playing around. Anyway, any idea how much things seem to jump around handheld at 500mm?

Just a suggestion, if you increase the contrast slightly and drop back the brightness a fraction that should increase the detail in the shot. Just my opinion.

I'll give that a shot after doing it again tomorrow night. I plan on using the tripod, mirror lock up, and 12 second delay while lowering the ISO, shutter speed, and bumping it to f/11 or so (wherever it is before the diffraction starts hitting). I'm sure I can get much better, and in fact I have before, but I wanted to do a quick snapshot of it.

Just comparing what I shot, same night. f/8, ISO 200, 300mm, 1/400 sec. This was my second attempt and the first was horrible. I am really shocked this turned out so well as this was a hand held shot.
