I used a flash on this photo and it turned out more like a bow you put on a package than a rose itself I thought.

Maybe the flash reflects off moisture on the petals. It does look kind of like,a Barbie flower.

yes that could be the answer, my granddaughter would love this one. Seems everything in her room is pink.

He got here first, but I'd have predicted you would get the EM seal of approval! As long as you don't blow out any highlights, using flash to isolate a flower (or other object) can be quite effective.

thanks Marc, it's close to being blown out, a couple I took were. I finally just focused on the back of the rose and that turned out best. Maybe a off camera flash would be better.

Might do as you could put the flash a bit further away. I'd probably opt to diffuse the flash, which also reduces the amount of light hitting the background.

Cool photo, brother Bob. It's almost like the flower is made of silk.

Turned out well Bob. You should have it printed up for that granddaughter. She would love it for sure.

thanks Marc, I'll give that a try. I have a soft box that I might try also, it fits over the flash.

Her bedroom is so darn pink now, I doubt you would even notice a photo in there. Thanks Susan for the idea.
