A thundering waterfall on the Little Kanawha River near the headwaters of WV's Burnsville Lake. We were about 100 feet above and 75 yards laterally from the waterfall, and the roar of the water from there was impressive. There was a small park down below us, but the view from the overlook is much better. I only wish we could have caught it on a sunny day, instead of the nondescript white overcast. I do want to go back there and try my hand with a fishing rod. Q + Q01 lens.

Hi!
A beautiful place but it seems to me that the branches were a little red and the tree spoil the landscape.

Nothing I could do about the tree; there was another one just to the left of the frame, and I had to stand where I did in order to get the full view of the rocks, waterfall, and pond. The tree is just a part of the environment; I don't think it spoils the view at all, but thanks for commenting.

The water is a really beautiful shade of green. I think the overcast day brought out the colors too. Looks like a beautiful place to visit. Thanks for taking me along and I look forward to seeing what you can do on a sunny day.

Thanks ladies. We discovered several really neat sites this weekend. One of the parks we visited has an 8+ mile loop that goes through some rugged mountain terrain, and passes three major waterfalls, including one where the trail runs under the waterfall. I am definitely going back and hiking that loop this spring, but I really wish my wife was able to go with me. She has trouble with her knees, and can only walk in the woods if the terrain isn't too precipitous.

Thanks Michael. Probably so. I'm also guessing it is a prime spot for fishing, being on the Little Kanawha.

Sometimes for me it is difficult to comment on a photo or make a critical (MY view). Nothing is perfect and I also do not, but often do not know if people want a true critique or just expecting a "Very nice shot." I hope that my comments on the photos are creative enough to take advantage of them.
Your photo are really beautiful enough to be able to enjoy.

I appreciate the comments, and no offense taken. Sometimes we as photographers just differ on what works for us and what doesn't.

What a cool shot of a cool place! Just the kind of spot you'd like to go and sit a spell.

Thanks Jer. I will be returning to that spot to see if there are any decent fish in it. I could certainly plop down a folding chair and just listen to the roar of the water.
