that's a great capture EM, much harder than my hummingbird photos, great job.

The hoverflies have become something of an obsession when I'm in the back yard - almost as much as my bumblebees and ambush bugs...
I have only been able to get the European Wool Carder Bees in hover, though. That's prefocus manual, knowing where they're going to be patrolling.

I think with Hoverflies it's the luck of the game!
