My Uncle was in the Canadian Army from 1939 -1945 and one of his duties...while he was in England... was to train both Canadian Army and British Army motorcycle dispatch riders, on how to ride military motorcycles. The army bikes he trained riders on, included Harley Davidson WLC (Canadian version of the WLA), the Norton 600 single, the Matchless 350 single and I think some Indians.
Canadian Armed forces back then, used all these makes, Brits used just the Brit bikes.
