The sharpness of the DA*300 is astonishing.

Very nice, Rob. As you say, very sharp. But the bokeh is nice too. I see the location is Canberra. Do you often get brolgas there. Where was it?

I don't think wild Brolgas are common in the ACT. More likely would be further west around the rivers and floodplains. This is one of a pair at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. I'm not sure if they're wing-clipped but they seem to be very much resident! The last place I seem to recall seeing them in the wild was NT and the wetlands near Townsville Airport.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure that this photo taken with the DA 55-300 wouldn't have looked as good as it does with the DA*300.

Also astonishing: the eye and steady hand of the photographer. Very impressive, Rob.

Thanks! With the DA*300, the number of keepers seems higher than with the DA 55-300.

I just need to get out of the house to use it more!

Thanks Jer! The down side is that it's a pretty heavy lens. It will get heavier if I get the 1.4x teleconverter!

If I get one shot like this in a day I'm happy, but I got several really nice shots yesterday.

Great Photos!

Beautiful captures, Rob! That 300mm is a keeper, but you obviously know how to use it, as well.

Thanks! I kind of wish I bought one sooner. I'm going to have to exercise more if I plan to take it on overseas trips though - it's not light!

Thanks Ron! Luckily, it's a pleasure to use, and I'm enjoying learning how to get the best out of it! Images that I would expect to be passable with the DA 55-300 often turn out to be keepers with the DA*300.

Here's an example - I didn't expect my shots of the Grey Fantail to be much good.
