you use you camera's intervalometer to take a series of shots (this is 100 30 second shots) at specific intervals (15 sec in this case) and use a photo stacking program (I use startrails) to stack the photographs on top of each other. I then use Lightroom 5 to perfect the look. Some things that are important to remember are to turn off all of you camera's noise reduction software as it takes to long for the camera to process those images and screws up the sequence. I hope that helps you understand. I am a newbie at this too and I just read a lot and just did it with pretty good results. Can't wait to see what I create 6 mths from now.
