Magical is a good description.

I saw an awsome display here in NYS about 30 yrs ago. It remains a wonderful memory for me.

One difference from my memory of them in the south is that they occasionally coverge on the zenith of the sky instead of rising up in ribbons from the horizon. Thanks for the comment
