Hoverfly tucking in to some nectar. He obligingly let take quite a few shots, though I couldn't manage a decent one of him/her in flight.

Very cool. I don't know how you "macro experts" are able to catch these moments so well given the technical issues associated with such close-ups. My hat's off to you.

That's amazing, dare I say it - perfection; not being a professional. You must give me some tips. I'm a beekeeper, I produce some for our local association magazine. I think, mine are good, I won first three places in the local show. But don't match your quality. I will endeavour to improve.

Awww, thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. My ego has been suitably stroked.
If there's one tip I can offer, take heaps of shots and you might get two or three good ones. Digital film is cheap.
