Mecum Auction - Paul Newman's 1977 Porsche 911 S GTU Racer
Lens: DA 15/4 and FA 31/1.8 Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Reliant Center, Houston, TX
Posted By: Sailor, 04-12-2014, 08:29 AM

Actor Paul Newman co-owned and co-drove Sebring with this 911 in 1977; although Porsche dominated that race, this car finished but was well down in the pack. After the '77 racing season, Newman sold the car, which was then campaigned in various venues of the the next several year. In 2006, restoration of the car to Newman's original specs and livery was begun. This car will go across the block today.

As always, white balance is a nightmare in this sort of place with its variable light sources - I did my best .

Well done! In five shots you give the viewer an excellent idea of what this famous car is all about. I face similar problems with WB in one of our local venues and I think you handled it just fine.

Sigh......Sound system: Ipod & Earphones under helmet so you cant hear team manager screaming at you to slow down.
Carpet: Many choices....buy a carpet tile. Cut a piece out of the spare bedroom wardboard (assuming you carpet your spare bedroom). Or the budget version.... an old jute wheat bag (dont use a new one !!).

As I mentioned in another thread, Porsche's come without features commonly standard on other makes.

Yeah . . . . . we don't need no stinking sound systems!

I'm glad you liked 'em brother Bob - another series of shots of some absolutely delicious 'Vettes will be coming up this PM or tomorrow!

Nice shots.
It does have a sound system right in the back and the volume is controlled by the drivers right foot

Thanks! The best sounds systems of all: the chain-saw snarl of a Porsche flat 6, the burble of big Chev, Ford or MOPAR V-8, the scream of a Ferrari, that special sound of a BMW in-line 6 . . . . . . . . . . the beat goes on.
