Great image Digitalis. Glad you got the one image that trumped everything in detail. Can't wait to see the 645Z images! I wish I had those lenses and cash.
Equipment mainly used:
- K01
- Super Multi Coated Takumar 400mm f5.6(mostly at >F8), ISO 400 to 800, exposure bias varying from -3 to 0 and time around 1 sec and below
- DA 15mm
- SMC DA55-300 took surprisingly great images. I almost bought a Sigma 50-500 f4.5 but after seeing how my DA55-300 turned out, I'm going to aim for the 60-250 or 300* w/ HD rear teleconverter. (Adam, I did read the review for HD55-300 which I loved).
- K-01 720nm infrared conversion which I don't think got anything interesting and have yet to take a look

"Beautiful night. Woke up 10 minutes before the scheduled start of eclipse so I just went to nearby spots that I thought would have some darkness. There were clouds and mists around 11 PST in San Diego and it didn't look good. I moved locations from beach to bay. Unfortunately, my early shots with the 400mm were unuseable because I thought it was a piece of old junk. Turns out my polarizer was on =P and of course I didn't turn the ring correctly making things dark and unfocused. This was during the opening window of about 30 minutes before clouds rolled in and I thought the shoot was going to be a bust. I thought I was done but I luckily hung around for the rest of quite interesting show. The clouds cleared and although the mists remained(wish I drove earlier to an easterly deserted location), the eclipse had highlights during the going away phase after it turned rose colored and the eclipse showed glowingly bright. The DA 15 was the best lens to show the overall picture as my other lenses would glare too much. (If anyone knows how to get that eclipse light arc in detail without glare, please... I'd love to know.)"
