Shot my first wedding!
Lens: 16-50 + 50-135mm f/2.8 Camera: Pentax K-5II Photo Location: Slochteren, the Netherlands
Posted By: Kasuras, 04-15-2014, 08:41 AM

Last week I shot my first wedding, with my new Pentax K-5II. I used the 16-50mm and 50-135mm f/2.8 lenses. It was quite stressful to get all the images but in the end I think I got some pretty good images and the couple was very happy with what I delivered (about 200 images total, this is a small sample). I wasn't 100% familiar with the camera yet which did cost me a few images (AF-button to lock focus most importantly), and a hood on the 16-50mm would have improved a couple of images by reducing flare. I definitely want to do more of these!

Nice shots.

Gutsy to shoot a wedding, and balls of steel for doing it with unfamiliar gear.

Hah. Little girl with the pen is precious.

Lovely venue! Were you first or second shooter?

Are you using a UV filter or something on the 16-50? You might want to take it off, at least til you put a hood on there -- it's probably increasing the flare a bit.

Thanks!

I was the only shooter actually. They were at a tight budget and this was my first time shooting a wedding, so I shot it at a very low rate compared to the competition in my area.
I didn't have a filter on it, but that one particular picture was shot right into the sun - not much you can do about that I suppose.

Nice shots. The flare in #5 actually adds to the flavor.

what the fuss about the flare?
I wouldn't care about what others say about the flare, it is nicely done.
