I took 5 days to drive all the way up to Mendocino and back (from LA) to meet some old high school friends for a long weekend. This is an area that doesn't get a lot of traffic, as it's pretty far away from San Francisco, much of it on some pretty slow roads, and a long way from any interstate highway. Here are some shots from that trip.

#1. Looking west from the town of Mendocino out towards Japan.

#2. Turning around and looking north.

#3. Now looking inland. You can see some of the houses in the town.

#4. The Mendocino skyline!

#5, #6. A few macros.

#7. Another shot of the headlands.

#8. This one is actually further south, on the coast between Santa Cruz and San Francisco.

Would love number one and seven for wallpaper contrail, silhouettes of people, dramatic sunset, beautiful textures of the water and motion blur of the water, textures of landscape - such good timing and such great captures

All are very nice, Jerry. Not that my daughter and her husband have moved from Palo Alto to Massachusetts, we won't be seeing this area often any more - so appreciate the pics.

Thanks for all the nice comments, folks! Glad I could bring a little warmth up north….although it wasn't really shirtsleeve weather here, I guess warmth is a relative term.

Nice shots. I was just at pigeon point lighthouse a week ago. I wondered what the view looked like from that patch of wildflower. Now I have the answer!
