Bee At Work -- Pentax 100mm f/4.0
Posted By: hinman, 04-22-2008, 07:39 PM

Pentax SMC 100mm f/4.0 Macro 1:2 - Hin's Tech Corner

Hand-held in f/8.0 with K10D on JPG in bright image tone
+2 on sharpness, cropped down for resizing.

I bought this lens from SCGushue in this forum and he is the kind soul who also sold me his Pentax K 45-125mm f/4.0 and I have a thread on the lens as 'Poor man's choice of DA * 50-135'.

Hin,

Great to see you putting that lens to good use. I was wondering when I would see a post from you with that lens.

Nice image. Excellent colors and plenty sharp!

Much thanks for the comment. I would love SCGushue to see the shot. I am so thankful to him -- the best guy who has kept his gear in great conditions.

Stephen,

It is such a shame for me to have many lens not used. LBA has cost me with many lens taking months before I find time to shoot a single picture. And I have dedicated your Pentax K 45-125mm as my poor man's choice of DA * 50-135. The K 45-125 is great with my kid's portraits. Much thanks to you. Tomorrow, I should be able to get to my last lens not used -- your Pentax A 50mm f/2.8. Sincere thanks to you!

Howdy Hin

Beautiful colors and very sharp... Did you set up the background or is it natural?
I did not even realize you had this lens. You really did have the LBA bad, if it takes that long to get to them. Can't wait to see some more from this one. My 105 macro is one of my faves especially now that the bugs are back...
did you get a chance to see my latest Superfly Model?

Maybe the boys will like it! How are the boys doing?

Thank you gus. The background happens to be a black window and I get lucky with the scene. Yes, I bought this lens a while ago from Stephen along with Pentax K 45-125 f/4.0 and Pentax A 50mm f/2.8 Macro 1:2. And it took me five+ months before I realize what I had in my possession. LBA sometime does has some positive side effects.

Oh, with 1:2, I don't think I can get the bug's eyes like Gus does in his picture with the colorful fly. For me the 1:2 is more than enough for learning close up. I will experiment with extension tubes to make it closer to 1:1 macro.

Thank you for all the kind words. All credits go to Stephen who sold me the good lens. I just tested another lens that I bought from him, the Pentax A 50mm f/2.8 macro 1:2. I will post pictures next.

Thanks again!
