Autumn leaves reflected on Nerang Pool in Commonwealth Park near sunset - a Coot floats on a pool of colour.

In the trees nearby, there was some strange fruit to be seen...

And there was a small flock of Straw Necked Ibis looking for whatever they could find.

Thanks! Evening light and the brilliant optics of the DA*300.

Thanks! I had to walk around a bit to get the bird in the right spot, so it was worth it!

Terrific stuff, Rob. I really like the reflected color on the water in the first one. I've seen plenty of white ibis around here, but the straw necked one is new to me (of course I don't know squat about birds ). Nice shots.

Thanks Jer! We have several species in Australia - our White Ibis is different from yours I think. Then there's the Straw-necked and the Glossy Ibis.

Thanks Dave! I'm glad I spotted it. Sometimes it's hard to see the trees for the birds.

Thank you! I hope to get a better shot of a Straw Necked Ibis now I know how cool their feathers are!

Gorgeous shots! I absolutely adore shooting water with reflected fall colours and that first shot is stunning. The strange fruit is really interesting. Wish to see a macro of just one. And the Ibis is very nice too, sharp and interesting with its rainbow of colour.

Thanks Tess! I'd love to get a close shot of a flying fox, but they're all in the treetops. I will get a little closer when I get the 1.4TC.
