Rippling Waters
Camera: K-30 Photo Location: WV
Posted By: TonyTurley, 04-24-2014, 04:08 PM

I haven't been able to check in to PF or other forums much the past week or so due to other priorities. My wife and I decided some R&R was in order, so we took a day trip to the WV countryside to visit Rippling Waters, the WV state campground for the Church of God of Anderson, IN. This 300 acre slice of paradise is tucked neatly into some of the most picturesque hill country one could ever want to visit. It is always a great place to visit, and especially so on a day as lovely as yesterday. Hope you enjoy riding along. Most of the photos were taken with my K-30 and 55-300 WR.

This first photo I took with the little Q and 01 lens.

The smaller of two lakes, with some huge Black Willows nearby.

This bench is a memorial we set up for our oldest son after we lost him at age 14 to a sudden illness. Rippling Waters was one of his favorite places to visit. This Saturday, 4/26, will be 10 years since that terrible day.

The front of the bench. It is built of rot-resistant composites. It still looks as new as it did years ago. I already had this photo taken with my older Sony, so I didn't get a new one this trip.

View from the bench.

More photos of the beautiful Kwanzan Cherry that stands watch over Andy's bench.

The Swan followed us all over the place, bumming for handouts. It didn't like our dog, who is smaller than the Swan. It used to have a mate, but we don't know what happened to it.

Thank you, Patrick. It has indeed been very difficult at times, but through a lot of prayer and with the support of many, we've made peace with the situation. As for Rippling Waters, you're right; it is stunning in Autumn.

Thanks Jer. It felt great being out there and just letting myself go with the camera. It was a great afternoon for both of us . . . and our dog enjoyed it, too.
