Mostly Chloride, Arizona

On US 93 between Kingman and Hoover Dam are a series of historic markers for places that are mostly not here any more.

Cerbat. Sounds like some sort of rodent.

Mineral Park. Sounds very scenic, which I doubt.

If you really wanted to go to Mineral Park, this is the road.

Not only does Chloride have a marker...

It has a big sign.

And another, in case you missed the first one.

A few miles up the road to Chloride.

If you look closely, you'll see why saguaros have arms.

Used to be the Russell building. Now it is not.

A little behind the times. This is April 2014.

Chloride Station.

Cactus bath.

Signs of life.

Digger Dave's.

Chloride Speshul.

Tenny's 7 T Ranch.

Water tank.

The Post Office is about to open.

What better way to honor the name of Chloride than a silver boulder?

Yesterdays.

USA native.

Bird lamp.

In case you missed it on the way up.

Back on the highway is another marker, for White Hills.

Keep going, and you will see this - but only after getting off the highway and going onto the foot-bridge.

Cool. We were down that highway in January and don't remember seeing any markers or signs for markers. I remember the big chloride sign... Or a sign for Chloride.

Thanks for the detour! Closest I've ever been to there was to the dam, long ago (day trip from Lost Wages). Very interesting!

Thanks for looking and commenting. It is probably a bit livelier around town a little later in the day.
