Yep its a shell. Either left there by a fisherman or washed up on the beach.

Thanks for the comments. I also look forward to tomorrow, cuz there might be a chance of special pics. at least in my neck of the woods.

Hi Dudlew, I like the 2nd shot. Maybe a bit of crop on the left lower corner would make the seashell more prominent in the image?

Cheers

In looking at the photos I think I understand what Prizmatic is saying...
The photos are static and the object of your attention is very centered in the photo. With a little better compostion, getting off center, the photos would be more dynamic and give a better rendition of what you saw to others.

Example: With the sea shell, change the layout of your shot to put the seashell in the forground, much like you already have, but put it more off to the side and take advantage of the diagonal lead into the rest of the photo.

There's a language issue here, Prizmatic's other posts are also, um, a wee bit crytpic. Takes a little interpretation. Where the heck is RF, by the way? It's bad enough we've got all the Americans assuming everyone knows what NM or AZ stands for... not to mention Canadians thinking the world knows where NB is!

This sounds as good an interpretation as any. With the object centered, you go to it and stop. Put it off center, and your eye wanders about the scene, and you enjoy it a little longer. It's not just about the object, it's about where the object is. At least that's my interpretation!

Right.
Well said.
That is what I meant to say...without all my verbage and pontifications.

OK now I get it. Is this the rule of thirds going on here?? I am learning on the fly here, and have heard the term used. Is this the reason for it? If it is then I have learnt something new today. I have heard it and have tried to do it before but it didn't always seem right to me.

OK well today is gone and I have already taken my batch of shots, so this is something that I will try for tommorow and see how it works.

By the way, did you think I over did the post processing?? Does anything look unreal or overly a\saturated to you??

Just thought I would ask. Thanks

Hi dudlew, No, I don't think they look overly sharpened/saturated to me, but I think any more would be too much. Of course that is only my opinon

Colors and sharpness look OK.

If you will note when you use Hue/Saturation on sunset photos the sunset, especially at the sun, can get blown and distorted.

You might try doing some of the color saturation in LAB mode using curves on the A and B channel for a better treatment and control.

Yes the rule of thirds is some of what we are describing here but don't always get locked into that, just look at other photos and understand why you like them and why you don't and you will learn a lot.

Hi All!

RF - Russia.

I specify those or others " technical misses " that your photos became better!
For these photos that is more important: a subject as the center of a composition or a background of a landscape?...
This contradiction also is in your photos...
Simple words - if you have a little sat down...

The best regards!
